Yes, We Could Call It Concierge Care - But Here’s Why We Don’t

We get asked this a lot:

“Is this concierge care?”

And we get it—our patients love the access, the no-wait appointments, the text replies, and the long, unhurried visits. It feels luxurious.

But here’s the thing: we don’t call it “concierge medicine.” We call it Direct Primary Care—because that’s exactly what it is.

This is primary care in San Diego with friendly physicians who listen. You can text us. We know your story. And we’re here when you need us.

What’s the Difference?

At first glance, DPC and concierge care can look a lot alike. Both offer:

  • Longer visits

  • Easy access to your doctor

  • Little or no time in a waiting room

  • A more personal relationship with your doctor

But here’s the key difference:

Concierge medicine usually bills insurance– on top of charging a membership fee. Direct Primary Care (that’s us) doesn’t bill insurance at all.

Your monthly membership covers nearly everything. No copays. No surprise bills. Just direct care, straight from us to you.

Why We Don’t Call Ourselves “Concierge”

Because it implies something we’re not trying to be.

“Concierge” carries a kind of exclusivity—something fancy, something gated, something for the few. That’s not us. We’re not here to be “boutique.” We’re here to do good medicine the simple way. No middlemen. No red tape. No bureaucracy between you and your doctor.

Direct Primary Care is built on the idea that great care shouldn't be a luxury. It should be a standard.

But Let’s Be Real…

If you’ve ever waited three months to get into a doctor’s office in San Diego only to spend six minutes explaining a year’s worth of health issues, this does feel luxurious. And we don’t blame you for thinking it’s “concierge.” That’s a sign of how refreshing it can feel to experience care that’s actually centered on you.

In Short

If you’re looking for the personal attention and easy access to physicians in San Diego associated with concierge medicine–that’s us. But we just call it what it is: Direct Care.

Because direct is better than fancy.

This isn’t a luxury add-on. This is Direct Primary Care, and we believe it should be the baseline, not the bonus.
